On April 23, 2024, the National Aviation University and the PCM & MAT Kosovo group of companies signed a Memorandum of basic principles of cooperation.

The purpose of the memorandum is to partner in training qualified specialists in the mine action field, reducing threats from explosive ordnance and introducing the latest demining technologies.

RSM Group is one of the world's leading organizations specializing in providing technical support to victims of landmines and other explosive remnants of war. The company has many years of experience in conducting training programs in accordance with the International Mine Action Standards (IMAS).

Cooperation between the NAU and the PCM involves the implementation of a number of joint projects. In particular, it is planned to launch a technical training course “Risk Management of Explosive Remnants of War” at the university's training facilities on the basis of the Educational and Research Institute of Continuing Education. This course will be targeted at a wide audience: communities, businesses, farmers and anyone interested in improving safety and gaining knowledge on managing the relevant risks.

The PCM group will also periodically conduct technical courses on IMAS training for specialists in explosive ordnance disposal, improvised explosive devices, mine action quality management, advanced search, ammunition management and security.

“NAU is systematically working on mine action. We are open for partnership. The university has a great potential to work in this area - a unique scientific environment, motivated engineering students, significant infrastructure and material base,” said acting rector Ksenia Semenova.

With the participation of PCM experts, new subjects on theoretical and practical training of humanitarian demining specialists will be introduced into the training programs of the National Aviation University. It is also planned to conduct research and development in the areas of robotics, geospatial information technologies, operational inspection of combat-affected objects, etc.
