State Aviation Museum of Ukraine

Official site

The State Aviation Museum of Ukraine (Zhulyany) is the youngest and at the same time the largest historical museum of the country's technical. It was established in 2003 crowning a noble date - 100 years of world aviation. The museum housed in the former training air base and aircrafts, which were assigned to it, became the core of its collection.

Today an exhibition in Zhulyany includes nearly 70 aircraft and helicopters despite the fact that it started with only 30 boards. One more direction - samples of air weapons and unmanned aerial vehicles and a display of aircraft engines. In a full-scale museum   developments of almost all leading aviation Design Bureaus (DB) of the Soviet period are represented - Tupolev, Yakovlev, Ilyushyn, Antonov, Sukhoj, Mikoyan-Gurevich, Kamov, Mil, Beriev, as well as replicas of the early twentieth century. The collections are formed by the principle of the purpose of aircraft in one hand and belonging to certain DB in another. The exception is DB of A.Tupolev, it is made as a separate "Back fire-collection" which includes missile-bombers Tu-22M. The collections of aircrafts by DB of  Mikoyan and Gurevich, as well as helicopters by Mil DB, which are represented in our funds, are one of the most comprehensive in the world.
By the number of prototypes and individual boards our museum has the second largest collection in the CIS after Russian Mimino. The first prototype of IL-86, prototype/first production of IL-18, the first production Tu-104, pre-production Tu-134 and Tu-22M0 of the experimental series can be seen in Zhulyany. Every device is the oldest extant example of its type. On many planes represented in the museum the main systems continue to operate till today.

The development of the exposure of the State Aviation Museum of Ukraine is constantly going on. The existing equipment is stored carefully; new exhibits are being looked out. At the same time the archive fund is getting set in order and proper form as well.
The museum is constantly establishing cooperation with aviation organizations around the word.
