Aerodynamic complex

The complex consists of two wind tunnels. The closed-circuit tunnel (annulus)   TAD-1 is designed for research of aerodynamic characteristics of short takeoff and landing and other aircrafts. Its working section is of 4,0´4,0´10,5 m sizes and maximal flow speed is 72,5 m/s.

Aerosol tunnel of straight-flow type TAD-2 is designed for agrophysical research of atmospheric phenomena influence into aircrafts flight dynamics and also for research of wind load on industrial objects. Its working section is of 4,0´2,5´5,5 m sizes and maximal flow speed is 42 m/s.

Spectrum of aerodynamic research objects and their parameters is quite wide: from aircrafts to different build constructions as well as different transport and sport objects.

For aircrafts aerodynamics characteristics research the following is determined:

  • aerodynamics (general and local);
  • stability and controllability;
  • adverse factors impact (icing, downpours, wind gust, the load release, individual peculiarities, functional systems failure);
  • math modeling of flight dynamics based on tunnel tests data;
  • propellers operating characteristics together with full-scale motors;
  • wind load on certain elements and sling loads;
  • surface electrization.

For ground buildings and constructions research the following is determined:

  • wind load on a basement;
  • wind load on building and construction faces;
  • finding of the aerodynamics instability zones of buildings and constructions;
  • ventilation systems effectiveness when buildings design and compacting;
  • availability of speed air flow or still zones of pedestrian level (aeration tasks);
  • methods of buildings and constructions vibration attenuation in case of wind load;
  • meteorological certification of wind speed and air flow direction measuring devices.

For transport and sport objects aerodynamics characteristics the following is determined:

  • aerodynamic resistance;
  • sustaining power and controllability in case of high motion speed;
  • aerodynamics of sails, underwater keels, rudders;
  • ventilation in under cowl space and in the car salon with engine-on.
