The research work in NAU is headed by the vice-rector on scientific work, Dr.Sci. (Engineering), the professor, the winner of the State award of Ukraine in the field of science and engineering - V.Kharchenko .

The research process at the university is carried out by a highly skilled scientific - pedagogical team, including 18 academicians and corresponding members of the Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, 262 doctors of sciences and professors and 738 candidates of sciences and senior lecturers. The teaching staff includes 34 honoured figures of science and engineering of Ukraine, 111 honoured teachers of Ukraine, 69 winners of the State awards of Ukraine in the field of science and engineering. The branches of the University faculties are represented in the Institutes of the Academy of Sciences of Ukraine and at many aviation plants, oil and gas, radioelectronic industries, where their knowledgeable experts are involved in scientific academic process.

The research activity of NAU includes the departments of scientific and technical policy as well as financial and economic supply, scientific and technical information and coordination, the Institute of the integrated telecommunication technologies and innovations, scientific laboratories (centers, groups) of the faculties, institutes, other divisions. The research institutes take a special place in the development of scientific work.

The scientific and technical library is one of the biggest among Ukrainian Universities libraries and contains about 2.5 million books.
